We bought a new Bosch dishwasher and it came with a clear adhesive strip that appears to protect a wood/particle board based countertop from escaping steam. Our old dishwasher was mounted under our granite countertop with [a perforated metal strip](https://i.imgur.com/JX0KyaA.jpg), which I used to mount the new dishwasher. Photo attached. The instructions say that the vapor barrier must be used. Is this true for granite? I have an opening in my granite countertop for our oven. We recently got a new oven and I found that the opening at the wall end is about 1/8" narrower at the front. This means that the range cannot slide all the way back. I have a 4" angle grinder and I was wondering if I can use the flat side of a diamond cutting wheel to grind down this thickness? I've tried local granite installers, and I've had 3 appointments for a pro to do this, and 3 no-shows. If the diamond wheel won't work, can I use t...
My wife and I recently remodeled our kitchen and now have a beautiful granite countertop with a 15" overhang on our peninsula. We need to support this overhang ASAP, but I'm having a hard time finding anything on this particular matter: can I install my iron corbels directly into the 1/2" plywood cabinet base? I've been told both that I can attach directly to the back, and that I should install some boards in cabinet to build a support structure. On the former, I was told that because of the d...

I just realized my countertop is made of marble.. I’ve been taking it for granite for years. Any hacks to update the look of a ugly yellow granite countertop? I have to sell this place in 4 years so it's not worth replacing the granite, which others may like, but hard for me to live with Peel and stick laminate seems to be the best answer but if it's cheap it's usually kinda ugly too. Any ways to either make peel and stick like material a better design or a good place to buy for cheap? Thanks in advance! Edit: image links. the camera doesn't capture just how yellow this granite is, a... Dropped a bottle and it smashed the edge :(. Looking for recommendations on how to get this repaired.
Weight of granite countertop. Question in title. The countertop did not come this way and only showed itself over time. Any clue how to remove blemish/rough spots and make it blend in with the surrounding areas? I'm planning a kitchen remodel next spring and have an existing kitchen that was likely new in the mid-80s. It has custom solid-wood cabinets with granite countertops. I hate to just demo and trash them when they could be used by someone else. Does anyoe know of a service that does this or someone who recycles high-end kitchens? It's really big 25ft by 11 feet and with two full pantries, a window seat, 30 feet of base cabinets and slighty less that of uppers so it would be reasonable to cut and ... Which of these two options would provide more value and satisfaction in the long run? 1. Vent hood instead of over-the-range Microwave. 2. Quartz countertops instead of Granite. TIA! Update: Thank you everyone! Your inputs were of GREAT help!! We skipped some other upgrade and actly accommodated both Vent-hood and Quartz. Dropped a bottle and it smashed the edge :(. Looking for recommendations on how to get this repaired.
